Have you been diagnosed with Mesothelioma?
Do you have asbestos related lung cancer?
Mesothelioma is a malignant cancer of the lining of the lungs, abdomen, or heart caused by inhaling asbestos fibers. Diagnosis is difficult and once diagnosed, survival rates are generally very poor. Even with early detection and the best treatment, the average five-year survival rate is only about 20 percent. The various manufacturers of asbestos have known of the enormous health risks for decades, but have chosen profits first and your health and well-being last.
What causes Mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is caused by inhalation or ingestion of asbestos fibers. Asbestos is a naturally occurring, fibrous mineral traditionally used for insulation in construction, engineering, and scientific industries. Asbestos releases microscopic fibers into the air that when inhaled, can cause a number of health hazards, including mesothelioma.
Who is at risk for Mesothelioma?
Those at greatest risk are people who worked in the asbestos, construction, and shipbuilding industries. While occupational exposure to asbestos creates the greatest risk, family members or anyone living with asbestos workers are also at an increased risk. Millions of people have been exposed to asbestos contamination due the proliferation of over 3000 products known to contain asbestos:
•paints & plastics
•joint compounds
•siding & roofing
•drywall cement
•wall & ceiling tiles
•insulation
•automobile & truck brakes
What are the symptoms of Mesothelioma?
In its early stages, the symptoms of mesothelioma are few, making diagnosis difficult. As the disease progresses, however, patients may experience any or all of the following mesothelioma symptoms:
•shortness of breath
•chronic cough
•difficulty swallowing
•hoarseness
•loss of appetite
•fever
•fluid in the chest cavity or around the heart
•abdominal mass or swelling
